Jersey based recruitment agency 'Select Recruitment' is managed by Sean and Toni O’Flaherty (Recruitment Director):

Toni, why did you start your own recruitment agency?

"I feel a great amount of satisfaction from helping people and I enjoy matching and placing candidates to the right jobs. Assisting candidates to take that next career step, and helping clients to fill those crucial placements is what it’s all about for me. It's not about commission or targets it's about people."

How do you think your experience helps with what you do?

"I have had a unique insight from all sides of the business. I have been a candidate seeking employment, I have previously worked in Human Resources as HR Officer for a local Accountancy Practice and I have also worked for two Jersey recruitment agencies, Temping Controller and Recruitment Manager.
I also completed the Certificate in Personnel Practice. My experience allows me to understand what both candidates and clients require. "

What are the key qualities that distinguish Select Recruitment from the rest of the industry?

"Our service is of course highly professional, but we also pride ourselves on our personal focus, and our relationship with our candidates and clients which is what makes us unique.
In particular we ensure that we are selective in what we do. I do not believe in sending CV’s en masse and careful consideration is always given as to where a candidate should be put forward for interview. We believe in treating all candidates and clients equally, and with the same level of service, regardless of their size or salary."

What services are offered to clients and candidates? 

"Our standard client services include dealing with temporary, contract and permanent positions. We can also assist with payroll matters if required. For further details see our section on client services.

In respect of candidates we will gladly review someone’s CV and advise how to make it more appealing. We also ensure that they are prepared for interviews and provide guidance on interview skills where necessary. Our close relationship with our candidates ensures that their job requirements are fully considered."

Sean O’Flaherty:

Sean was born in Jersey and has 14 years experience in the finance industry.
He is both FCCA (a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant) qualified having originally gained his experience with Ernst & Young. His career has been varied and covers Accountancy, Trust Company Business and Banking.

Sean also founded O'Flaherty & Co a local Accountancy Practice, in 2003 and in October 2008 integrated this business with that of Rosscot, Chartered Accountants. He remains involved with Select Recruitment to this day providing recruitment, accounting, technical and general support.
