Supervising Social Worker - Fostering & Adoption team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join the Fostering & Adoption Team within the Government of Jersey on an agency basis. This assignment offers the chance to make a real difference to the lives of children, young people and foster families while enjoying everything Jersey has to offer.

Working as part of a dedicated and supportive team, you will be responsible for supervising and supporting foster carers, undertaking assessments, completing annual reviews and contributing to the recruitment, training and development of foster families. You will work closely with children, families, foster carers and partner agencies, ensuring that children's needs, wishes and wellbeing remain at the centre of all decision-making.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in fostering and adoption, with the ability to manage a varied caseload while producing high-quality assessments, reports and records within statutory timescales. You will play a key role in safeguarding children, reviewing care plans, managing risk and supporting positive outcomes for children and young people.

To be considered, you will hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You will have a minimum of five years' post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care, including significant experience within Fostering and Adoption and previous experience as a Supervising Social Worker. Strong safeguarding knowledge, excellent report-writing skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders are essential. A full clean manual driving licence is required, as travel across the island forms part of the role.

Applicants must hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate or be willing to obtain one prior to commencement.

Both Jersey-based applicants and those looking to relocate are encouraged to apply. Accommodation support is available for successful candidates relocating to the island, and assistance with initial travel to Jersey will be provided. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of £45 per hour, regardless of whether accommodation support is required.
